Are iPads the New Sound Studios? [Infographic]

Tablets, including the ubiquitous Apple iPad, are now powerful communication devices. Now, musicians are using them for a wide range of applications. For example, a DJ might use an iPad as a baby deck or to synthesize music. Many musicians use them as tuners to make sure their instruments are exactly on tune. That’s pretty kick ass!

All of these various features allow Djs and musicians to practice writing and playing music on their tablets. Given how popular tablets are becoming as teaching tools, this should come as no surprise. Still, it’s interesting to see musicians taking so strongly to the devices!

You can also use iPads to display music sheets and lyrics. Or even use software programs to produce the music itself! And of course you can use the iPad to update fans via media networks, help manage show setlists, and numerous other highly practical tasks.

You might think that the numbers are quite small, but actually 1 million guitarists (about 6.97% of all guitarists) are using the iPad. Nearly 8 percent of drummers, or 455K of them, are using iPads, while 8.83% of pianists (558K) are also using them.

It’s amazing how huge the impacts of technology have become on our lives! If you are considering a career, or even just a hobby in music, you should check out this musical infographic by Kensington.
