I Hate the Dentist But I Like This Infographic [Infographic]

I don’t like to waste my time lying or beating around the bush. I hate visiting the dentist. From the sterile offices and oddly bland smell, to the various metal instruments of torture that should be banned under the Geneva Convention, I hate the dentist’s office.

Every time I walk through the doors, it’s with a sense of dread. Still I know that visiting the dentist is important for preserving my health, and in turn my lifestyle.

So why do I continue to go? Well, for a lot of the reasons outlined in this infographic!

For one, somewhere between 30 to 50 percent of Americans, or American adults more specifically, have gum disease. And between 5 to 15 percent suffer from a more serious condition! I wonder what these stats would look like if we added kids!

And crazily enough, gum disease can actually cause lung infections, increase the risk of diabetes, and even increase the risk of stroke! I’m going to have to check with my dentist on that one, because I really don’t see how this is possible!

Another point argued is that bacteria from your teeth can actually enter the blood stream and cause your veins to clog up! Honestly, I have trouble believing that’s not stretching the truth, but I guess I’m not the expert here!

Anyways, if you want healthy teeth, drink plenty of milk and get lots of Vitamin D. Also, avoid smoking and drinking. And if you’re pregnant, it’s especially important to take good care of your teeth because poor oral health has been linked to numerous pregnancy related problems!

Anyways check out this infographic and map in order to learn more!
