Have you noticed more ads on the social media you frequent? There’s a good reason for that. Companies are trying to dip into the massive pool of social media users.

I think just about anyone who has used social media for several years has noticed the increasing number of ads on their favorite social media websites. For me, the worst is YouTube, I swear sometimes I end up watching more commercials than actual content.

Social media is clearly important to many businesses. In fact, some 86% of marketers agree with me. And some 79% of marketers have integrated social media in with their traditional marketing campaigns.

92% of marketers use Facebook for marketing commercials, while 80% use Twitter. 70% use Linkedin and 56% use YouTube. Another 58% of marketers are also active in blogging, while only 4% use Groupon.

While marketers may use a wide variety of platforms, some 49% will agree that Facebook is the most important one. 14% believe that Blogging is, and 16% go for Linkedin. I’ve always loved blogging myself.

Increased exposure and increasing web traffic are the two most important reasons to use social media. Providing market insight and building a loyal fan base come in a close 3rd and 4th, respectively.

Luckily, just six hours a week with social media marketing can increase traffic and exposure! And 62% of companies with 10 or fewer employees report that social media can actually reduce costs!
