Digital marketing is clearly an important part of the marketing world. Just how important is it? This great infographic by Vocus Marketing Cloud features information taken from a survey of some 408 digital market “decision makers” to provide key insight into the industry!

The most important objective for digital marketing is to drive sales, but increasing brand awareness comes in close behind. Reaching new customers and increasing customer engagement are also both important! Other things like cost savings, however, are not nearly as important.

Many SMBs with $1MM in annual revenue are already using digital media. In fact, 87 percent have websites, 78 percent use social media, and 70 percent use email marketing. Compared with larger businesses, however, these businesses often do not use banner ads, mobile marketing, or custom content creation.

Most SMBs spend less than 100k per year on marketing, however, 22 percent of SMBs with $1MM in revenues spend between 100K and 499K. It’s clear to see that there are indeed some big money spenders!

Of all the businesses surveyed, 35.3 percent had 2 to 5 staff members working on digital marketing full time. An additional 29.4 had only one person working in the field, while 20.6 percent actually had no one dedicated full time!

Check out the rest of the great details in this infographic! There are numerous charts and graphs that will help clarify the things we just went over, so check them out.
