Shocking Stats of Heart Disease in America [Infographic]

By

Did you know that:

more Americans die of heart disease than all cancers combined.

That’s pretty shocking if you ask me! In fact, 80 million Americans have at least one type of heart disease! For a country home to only about 330 million people, that’s a huge number!

Coronary heart disease is the most common type, and kills some 385,000 people per year, costing the USA nearly 109 billion dollars per year in medical care and lost productivity. That’s a huge impact on the economy and bigger than the GDP of many countries!

Also, some 250,000 people die from Sudden Cardiac Death per year. Not only that, but 935,000 Americans have a heart attack per year! Smoking, diabetes, obesity, high cholesterol and numerous other lifestyle choices can increase your risk of heart disease, so make sure you take care of your health by making healthy choices!

And given that 60 percent of Americans are physically inactive, it might be time to start exercising or playing sports. With nearly 34 percent of adults and nearly 17 percent of children being obese, it’s time to get our act together and to start taking care of ourselves!
