Good grammar is essential for just about everyone. Whether you are looking to find a career, completing a college paper, or writing something for your employer, having good grammar skills is essential.

Luckily, if you are having a bit of trouble with your grammar, this infographic is here to help!

For example, did you know the difference between the boy’s room and the boys’ room? Boys’ is plural, so if two brothers shared a room, it would be called the boys’ room. On the other hand, if a brother lived by himself, it would simply be the boy’s room.

And affect means to influence! So, you could say, the media campaign “affected” the outcome of the election. Effect, means result. So, the “effects” of the media campaign quickly became obvious to the loser.

One mistake I always see is when people mix up then and than. This grammar mistake really annoys me, and it’s one of the easiest to avoid! Then indicates sequence, while than is a comparison! After John shut the refrigerator door, he “then” made his way to the living room. Once there, he sat on a bigger “than” normal chair.

There are a ton of other grammar tips on this infographic by the University of Phoenix, so make sure you check it out! Also, remember that it’s essential that your resume or CV is free from any grammatical mistakes!
