Ready 2 Rumble: Android Vs iOS [Infographic]

Looking at the ongoing battle between Android and Apple, one can’t help but wonder if the outcome could literally shape or reshape our digital lives.

To be honest, I thought Android had a huge lead on Apple, but it turns out the battle is quite close. And I don’t say this as a fan of either party. I use an Android phone, yes, but only because I could buy a low end Android phone for a fraction of the cost of an iPhone. If I had the money, I’d definitely consider an iPhone.

Anyways, Apple has more apps at 840,000 to 800,000 for Android. Apple also has more downloads, some 40 billion to Apple’s 30 billion. Android does win on number of active devices, however, accounting from some 750 million to Apple’s 500 million.

For the makers of the Candy Crush Saga app, both platforms are a winner as the app tops the charts for both Android and iOS. Also, the Simpsons: Tapped Out comes it at a respectable #5 on both charts. Check out the list to see if you have any of the apps! And if not, you might want to give them a whirl. (My favorite game is Where’s My Water by Disney).

It turns out, however, that developers are making far more money

off of Apple’s app store than on Google Play. In fact, for every one dollar spent on Google Play, $2.45 dollars are spent on Apple‘s App Store.

Developing an app for iOS is 21 percent more expensive, however, costing some 27,000 dollars per app. That’s a big investment in a down economy. Either way, 54% of developers will at least break even through Apple, compared to only 47 percent for Android, so you might be better off making the riskier investment!

And who knows, if developers are doing so much better on iOS, they may eventually flock to the Apple camp! That could turn the tide of the battle in the long run. Check out this kick ass infographic by webdesignerdepot.com for even more data.
