It’s been a tough couple of years for new graduates, but now nearly 60% of employers plan on increasing “their number of new hires this year.” That’s good news!

And over half of all employers rate the job market as “good” or better!

So how does a new grad land a job? Well, it turns out that most companies (sixty five percent) do their recruiting in the Fall, not the Spring. So if you’re graduating next year, start job hunting as soon as school starts up.

Having a good GPA and holding leadership roles also helps to build up your resume. So do extracurriculars, and yes the actual major of your degree.

You know what factor doesn’t make a big impact?? The name of your college. Turns out big name colleges don’t give you much of an advantage over other schools.

And if you’re still in school and trying to decide on a major, you should give engineering, computer science, and business administration a close look. All three are in high demand, and all three enjoy high starting salaries, making them a great choice to land a good career!
