As this great infographic by Backupify shows, Google is essential for students and education. Now, some 20 million people use Google apps for education purposes, a 100 percent increase in only 2 years.
New York alone is home to some 3 million K-12 students using Google apps. Oregon features 561,00 students, and also 40,000 teachers and 25,000 staff members, using Google apps. This is great because Google Apps can help schools save money! In fact, the savings in Oregon are estimated to total 1.5 million dollars per year!
Universities are also jumping onto the Google Apps bandwagon. Consider that 7 out of the 8 Ivy league schools have already signed up. Major public colleges, like the University of Michigan and the University of Texas, are also using Google Apps. In total, 72 of the top 100 universities now use Google Apps.
Americans may be leading the way but Google apps are now going global. Singapore already uses Google Apps with 30,000 teachers and 350 schools signed up. Malaysia will soon add another 10 million students, and the Philippines has already signed its 45,000 schools up for Google apps.
