Technology in general has had a big impact on our lifestyles and mobile phones have had a profound impact on the way we live our lives. While we most often think of communication and the internet, another important factor is how we capture our daily lives. Simply put, mobile phones are replacing cameras and other traditional “capture” devices.
In fact, digital camera sales declined by 10 percent in 2012 as people have come to rely on smartphones and their built in cameras. Perhaps even more telling, smartphones outsold cameras 6 to 1! Now, 82 percent of people use their mobile phones to capture photos.
And consider this interesting tidbit of information: Humanity now collectively captures as many photos in 2 minutes today, as all of humanity did in the 1800’s.
Many of these photos are shared through social media, with 350 million photos being uploaded to Facebook each day! Even with 7 billion people on Earth, that is a lot of photographs! Numbers really spike on big holidays, like New Years Eve. Well over a billion photos were uploaded within 48 hours of the turn of year!
And if you are looking for a great camera phone, there are plenty of options with Sony, Samsung, and Apple offering great cameras on their kick ass phones.
