Technology is having a big impact on the way education systems work with 87 percent of parents believing that technology is important to their children’s success. And 50 percent believe that this is extremely important.

64 percent believe that their children’s school is doing a good job of using technology. 62 percent of teachers also believe that their schools do a good job of providing support to use technology in the classroom.

And teachers also believe in the impact of technology. Some 92 percent use it to access materials, resources, and other things that improve their ability to teach. 69 percent use technology to share ideas with other teachers. A majority of teachers also use technology to interact with parents and students.

Sadly, however, while technology is important, 50% of school district administrators say that they have seen their technology budgets decline within the last three years. And 84 percent of teachers now believe that technology is widening the gap between affluent and poor school districts.

In fact, only 21 percent of teachers from affluent school districts claim a lack of resources among students is hindering the ability to incorporate technology into teaching. Yet, that number sky rockets to 56 percent among teachers from less affluent neighborhoods!
