The Need for that “Creative” Spark in Education [Infographic]

By

I’ve got to be honest, I don’t understand why infographic designers use these “checkered” backgrounds. Why? This educational infographic is filled with tons of great information by Adobe. Unfortunately a lot of it is nearly impossible to read.

Anyways, this infographic highlights the potential barriers to creativity in education systems around the world. Even with the advance of technology, many school systems simply lag behind.

And creativity is massively important. Consider this, some 86 percent of educators and parents believe that creativity is important to education. Still, in the United States, 54 percent of educators feel that the education system does not value creativity. 56 percent say they lack resources. Australia is doing nearly as bad with 44 percent of educators saying they lack resources. Check out the map for more info!

In the U.S.A. educators feel that the system is too reliant on standardized tests, curriculum is too restricting, and there are not enough resources. Teachers in other countries feel that the education curriculum is the largest barrier to creativity and that creativity is misunderstood. A lack of resources and inability to stray outside of the curriculum also hampers performance.

How about you? Do you feel that your local school systems value and promote creativity?
