We Live in a Water World [Infographic]

Water is the element that gives life. Whenever you hear about astronomers looking for signs of life in the universe, you’ll most likely hear them talk about trying to find water on distant planets or moons.

Water is essential to our daily living, so it should be no surprise that the entire U.S. water market weighs in at some 134 billion dollars. From its use as the beverage of choice for many people, to industrial applications and agriculture, water is needed to run modern society!

I was quite surprised to see how water is used in the average office building. Only 13 percent of it goes to drinking! I figured that number would be a lot higher. 22 percent ends up being used for landscaping while 28 percent is used for heating and cooling! 37 percent is used for toilets, so cut down on unnecessary flushes and make sure none of your faucets and toilets are leaking!

One other sad statistic I caught in is that only 1 in 5 plastic water bottles are recycled. Come on people, we can do better than that! With potable water supplies so limited, we need to learn to conserve every drop.

Anyways, thanks Balboa Capital for putting out this great infographic!
