World War Social Media [Infographic]

Social media has become a new battleground in the war for talent. Companies that don’t play at all risk being left behind- but who’s leading the pack?

I’m not a recruiter, so I never really realized how important social media is for companies, head hunters and HR professionals!

If you are looking for your next job or dream career, heading to Facebook or Twitter might be the way to go!

Turns out that 93 percent of recruiters have used Linkedin to discover talent, and 89 percent have made a hire through the site! 66 percent of recruiters have used Facebook to discover talent, but only 26 percent have used the site to make a hire! Twitter has the worse numbers, with only 54 percent discovering talent and only 15 percent making a hire!

So how do companies rank in terms of pulling in a strong social media presence? Google, unsurprisingly, comes in at number one with 46,000 Facebook likes and nearly 210,000 Twitter followers. Some other companies on the list surprised me, however, such as Boston Consulting Group. BCG is a large international strategic consulting firm, and while they are involved in a lot of tech industries, I was a bit surprised to see that they are so tech savvy!

So who are the most popular recruiters on the social networks? Well it turns out that Marriot Hotels comes in at number one with some 690,000 likes. Interestingly, Facebook only has 165,000 likes! Isn’t it kind of bad to lose by so much on your own turf?

Twitter takes the top spot on their own network with some 340,000 followers, while Life at Google comes in with 209,000 followers. Meanwhile, Disney has three different branches of its company placing in the top companies! Disney Animation, Disney Interactive, and Disney Studios are all very popular!
