Ditch the Hotel for A Better Bed & Breakfast [Infographic]

Want to know what this kick ass infographic is all about? The authors explain it best:

When you envision your dream vacation you rarely imagine the hotel: Standard issue bed covers. Luke warm continental breakfasts. Sterile lobbies. But where hotels consistently fall short, bed and breakfasts consistently go above and beyond.

It’s true, the biggest names, such as Holiday Inn and Hilton, draw the most attention but is it fully merited? Hotel guest satisfaction rates have been on the decline, and shockingly only 8% of guests remain loyal to a particular hotel brand. Even worse, only 56 percent of guests rate staff highly. In contrast, three out of four guests believe that bed and breakfasts have better amenities.

Not only that, but B&B’s rarely try to rack up fees. For example, at most B&Bs you can expect free parking and wifi. Hotels often charge hefty fees for the same services and love to add in hidden fees, such as cleaning and shuttle charges.

And the numbers really add up! In New York City, for example, the average night at a hotel can cost nearly 220 dollars, vs. only 169 dollars at a Bed and Breakfast! And not only is the room cheaper, but most people agree that B&B’s are more cozy, intimate, and genuine. Hotels, on the other hand often have a sterile and bland feel. So if you’re looking for more than stale cereal and flavorless coffee, you should check out a Bed & Breakfast the next time you travel!
