Technology is an amazing thing. I love telecommuting. In fact, I am telecommuting right now! Sitting in the comfort of my own home, on a PC, working away. And given that up to 20% of the world’s workforce telecommutes, a lot of other people must enjoy it too.
Shockingly, nearly 85% of the world’s workforce will telecommute at least once per month. In fact, ten percent of the world’s workforce works primarily from home! ( I am a member of that 10 percent, and let me tell you, I don’t miss being in the office one bit).
Employers are keying into this trend too. In fact, nearly 77 percent of companies with more than 2500 workers allow telecommuting. And by 2019 the number of Americans in the private sector who regularly telecommute could reach 30 percent!
People love telecommuting, with a recent survey finding that just under 90 percent of people list it as one of their three top job benefits. Still, 13 out of 14 companies report that there are more problems when people are working from different locations, so it’s not all rosy news!
I’d like to know more about this infographics definition of telecommuting, to be honest. How does a construction worker, nurse, or janitor telecommute?
