I’ve got a secret to tell you. I don’t have a Linkedin account. Just never got around to making one, but this infographic is seriously getting me to reconsider. Why? Well it turns out that Linkedin is now vital for job recruitment! So if you’re looking for a new career or want to get poached, then a Linkedin Profile might prove vital to your efforts!

And this info-packed infographic from masters-in-human-resources offers plenty of reasons why you need Linkedin!

There are over 200 million people on Linkedin, spread out across over 200 countries. Interestingly, however, only 50 percent of people have completed their profile and most people spend between only 0 to 2 hours on Linkedin per week.

Why do people spend such little time on Linkedin, as compared to other social media sites?? As the infographic points out, it’s not really users but instead HR personnel looking to fill job positions.

In fact, 10 percent of all jobs are filled through social sites like Linkedin and 97 percent of HR personnel and recruiters use the site. 73% of successfully filled at least one job position through social media, so they are finding plenty of success!

Why do recruiters love Linkedin so much? For one, they know that people are less likely to lie than on resumes because everything is publicly visible. Two, it allows recruiters to pick and choose the people they want to contact. Three, Linkedin is a global network, so recruiters can literally search the world!

It’s amazing what technology can mean for your career these days, so take the time to view this infographic.
