or CV, but I know a lot of people do. In fact, 78 percent of resumes are “misleading” though only 40 percent of people consider themselves to be lying. This might suggest that people who are embellishing facts don’t consider themselves to actually be lying.

The authors of this infographic consider any attempts to be dishonest to ultimately be a lie. What do you think? Is there a difference?

So why do people lie? Well 60 percent of people think that even if they are discovered, they will be able to wiggle out of it. And 70 percent of college students would lie to get a job they want. With stats like that, it should be no surprise that 46 percent of background checks find inconsistent information!

Sadly, men are twice as likely to lie as women……. That makes me think I might favor hiring a female over a male! But why do so many people lie in the first place? Part of the reason might be the intense competition now required to get into a decent career. And as the old saying goes, desperate times call for desperate action.

In the long run, lying often comes back to haunt the liar. People can be fired, even years after the lie is discovered. In fact, legal action can even be pursued! Read through the rest of this insightful and in-depth infographic by GradSchoolHub.com for more information!
