As one of the necessities that we find aplenty on our normal lives, water is essential for our daily lives. Unbecknownst to some of us, water is a luxury that some of our fellow human being on the other side of the planet can’t afford.
This is found on www.seametrics.com – they created The Water Rich versus The Water Poor infographic to tell us that:
While some might say gold or diamonds, as far as human life goes, water is the world’s most precious commodity. As the world population increases, and industry continues to expand, Earth’s freshwater reserves are being stretched dangerously thin. See the disparity in water consumption between wealthy and underdeveloped nations.
Even though the infographic doesn’t show what the rest of the world are doing with their water consumption, it does shows some nice facts that I had never thought about, like:
Every $1 spent on water and sanitation produces a $9 return of saved time, lessened health costs, and increased productivity.
and
1 glass of wine needs 32 gallons of water to produce.
However, there are also intriguing facts like:
95% of the water that enters an American home goes down the drain.
Where does the other 5% goes? I assume they meant that it was consumed, but since we are peeing and leaking through other body parts, it should also goes down the drain, right?
