I just saw the most recent Star Trek movie, and on the whole I thought it was quite the enjoyable experience. Sci-fi has always been one of my favorite genre’s and though sometimes directors and screen writers lay an egg, many sci-fi movies have gone down as timeless classics.
This fact filled infographic designed by Rick Slusher highlights many of the all-time great sci-fi movies. This interesting infographic shows were various movies play out on a time line. So, if a movie is set in 1984, it’s place on the scale is 1984.
You see, it all started a long, long time ago, though not in a Galaxy far away, but instead Hollywood. In the late 1970’s George Lucas created Star Wars. A handful of years later, he was followed by the iconic 1984, a dystopia masterpiece.
In 2013 we have the Postman and Escape from L.A. I have seen both of those movies and the world in these movies is quite a miserable place, so good thing the directors’ visions for the future never came true.
And by the looks of it, the next 40 years are slammed with sci-fi movies. I guess we will get to wait and see if any of the directors’ crazy technologies come true.
My favorite movie on the list, Alien, is set in 2122. What’s your favorite sci-fi movie? You should check out the timeline and see if it’s there and in what year it’s set.
