I love movies, and movies that leave me feeling inspired afterwards get bonus points! This kick ass infographic by graphs.net offers a list of what they argue are the most inspirational movies around.
I’m not going to lie, some of their choices perplex me. Why, for example, is the Godfather considered an “inspirational” movie? And what do people feel inspired to do afterwards? Start a mafia? Don’t get me wrong, it’s one of my all time favorites, but I simply don’t see it as “inspiring.”
Rocky makes more sense, as it was filmed from the ground up to be inspirational. Shawshank Redemption certainly stirred up some strong emotions the last time I saw it.
And October Skies was absolutely brilliant. How do a few kids from a backwater coal mining town manage to put an object in space? You’ll have to watch to find out.
Schindler’s List nearly reduced me to tears when I saw it. The difference a man can make! And yes, like many of the movies on this list, it’s based on a real story!
I was
very happy to see that one of my all-time favorite movies, if not favorite period, “Gandhi” made the list. On the other hand, I was disappointed to see that another favorite, “Lawrence of Arabia” didn’t make it onto the list.
So what do you think? Any movies that don’t belong? Any movies they forgot to mention?
