Technology has had a huge impact on everyone’s lifestyle, and that includes children. When I was growing up, there were not nearly so many gadgets or gizmos, but now kids are practically inundated with technology from an early age.
In fact, 7 out of 10 children are now using smartphones or tablets, and they use these devices five days out of the week, on average. Boys spend nearly 11 hours a week on video game apps, while girls spend nearly 10 hours a week on social networking apps.
Heck, even 10 percent of infants have used a smart device, and nearly 40 percent of toddlers have too. Half of all children between the ages of 5 and 8 also use smart devices.
You should be careful with kids apps, however, as 59 percent
of them share personal info! 58 percent also include ads, and we all now how easily children are influenced by a good advertisement! Another 22 percent will link to social media, and only 9 percent tell you so!
In order to protect your children, you should carefully evaluate each app. In fact, you should try out the app for yourself and see what it’s doing. Also, make sure you set strict rules and explain them to your children!
